About the Band

Cadillac Wreckers play traditional yet uptown, swinging, urbane American music, steeped in the roots of vintage Jazz, Blues, Swing and R&B. Their music is at once contemporary and familiar, yet somehow reminiscent of the dance halls, speakeasies and juke joints of an era past.

Guitarist Dana Duplan and Harmonica player Dane Terry founded the 'Wreckers to play music born from the classic sides they love, combined with their own arrangements and energy. They sprinkled in a good mix of tunes from artists like Muddy Waters, Jimmy Reed, Guitar Slim, Louis Jordan, Charles Brown, T-Bone Walker, Little Walter, Hound-dog Taylor, Howlin' Wolf, Amos Milburn, George "Harmonica" Smith, Willie Dixon and others. Before long, they started collaborating on original blues music together.

Cadillac Wreckers brings classic American roots music alive with a sophistication, swing and feel seldom heard today. Whether you're into dancing or just grooving along with the band, Cadillac Wreckers is the vehicle that will carry you away to another time and place with their soulful intent, inventive instrumental improvisations and incredibly tight, solid performance.

Dana Duplan - guitar, vocals

photo: Dave McGhee
Dana Duplan has had a guitar in his hands since he began walking, starting with a plastic “toy” guitar, progressing to a home made “cigar box” guitar, and ultimately his first “real” guitar at age 10. He began playing in bands in elementary school, and has performed with various groups continually since that time. With a father from Louisiana, and a mother from Texas, there was always good music around the house. Dana’s formal introduction to the Blues was at age 14 by his 1st guitar teacher, who introduced him to the 3 Kings, Muddy Waters, Mike Bloomfield, and many others. While other kids were asking for bicycles for their 14th birthday, Dana asked for tickets to his first concert: a dream lineup of B.B. King, Freddie King, and Albert Collins. It was pretty much over then, and Dana was hooked. As a dedicated scholar of the Blues, his interests span from pre-war acoustic Blues, to West Coast, Chicago, and Texas electric styles, as well as British Blues, first encountered while in his teens. He has honed is skills performing in a variety of settings for over 40 years.

Dana states: “My dedication and enthusiasm for my craft burns as strong today as it did on the day that I strummed my first note, and my affiliation with Cadillac Wreckers is a culmination of that passion.”

Dane Terry -harmonica, vocals

Co-founder Dane Terry also started early, recalling that he received his first harmonica from his folks before he was in school, and caught fire with the blues as a young adult. A self-taught player, Dane draws his musical inspiration from the Gospel, Country and Jazz his parents exposed him to from birth, and from American roots music of the 1930s to the 1960s.
